Does Salt City Candle Co. use lead wicks?

Absolutely not. Salt City Candle is dedicated to providing top quality products, and we have never used lead wicks in any of our products. The health and well-being of our customers is paramount. Salt City Candle is committed to staying up-to-date on information regarding consumer health & safety. Salt City Candle uses zinc core wicks that are 100% lead free. Zinc core wicks tend to burn hotter and more evenly than cotton wicks and create less soot.

Why is it important to discard my candle when a half inch of wax remains?

As the flame nears the base of the jar, the wax is nearly or completely melted. At this point the glass can become extremely hot. Although Salt City Candle uses heat-tempered glass, there is a risk that the glass can become so hot that it can damage furniture beneath the base or even crack and pop. If the directions are followed properly, the risk of cracking or breaking can or will be avoided. Salt City Candle strongly recommends placing candles on a heat-resistant surface such as a candleholder.

Why is it important to keep my wicks trimmed?

If wicks are not trimmed properly, there is a tendency for a mushroom of carbon to form at the top of the wick causing the candle to smoke. Keeping the wicks trimmed to 1/4 inch will minimize smoking & sooting and ensure a more even burn. Extinguish the candle flame in the melted pool of wax using a Salt city Candle Wick Dipper & straighten the wick. Trim the wick to 1/4 inch (remove any trimmings or other materials from wax) and relight. Extinguishing the flame in the melted wax makes the wick easier to relight and the wonderful fragrance of the candle will not be compromised.

10 Oz. = 50 - 60 hours
16 Oz. = 80 - 100 hours
26 Oz. = 120 - 140 hours

• Burn your candle for at least 3 - 4 hours each burn.
• To reduce sooting/smoking, trim the wick to 0.5 centimeters each time the candle is lit.
• Keep wick centered.

• Use a Salt City Candle Co. Wick Dipper to help reduce smoke and make the wick easier to relight.
• Keep candle free of any foreign matter.
• Do not allow flame to touch sides of jar.
